With the Xbox One X’s launch approaching fast, many are wondering about the situation of pre-orders, and on whether there will be shortages. In order to get a clearer picture of the situation, DualShockers had a chat with Xbox Games Marketing General Manager Aaron Greenberg.

Greenberg mentioned that pre-orders continue to be “really strong” and are “selling out at an incredibly fast pace.” In many markets, including France (the interview was conducted at Paris Games Week), the expectation is that the console will be completely sold out before launch.

While Microsoft is trying to get as many units manufactured for the Holiday season as they can, Greenberg advises those who would like to get an Xbox One X for the Holidays to pre-order, as the company expects “demand to be greater than supply.”

Greenberg also mentioned that this is a “good place to be” for Xbox, and people are responding really well to the games line-up, to all the enhanced titles, and to the benefit they can get with the additional power the console offers.

Diving deeper into the stock situation, he explained that retailers focused on online sales like Amazon will normally sell out really fast. On the other hand, mass-market retailers are holding back a bit in order to have stock on day one when the console releases. So if you don’t have a pre-order, that’s where you should probably go. Microsoft expects gamers to line up at those retailers and in many cases, they will be open at midnight.

That being said, Microsoft expects the stock to evaporate quickly, and they’re working hard to replenish it as fast as possible.
