Destiny 2’s Prestige Nightfall still has a game-breaking issue

4.7
Destiny 2 players are just beginning a new week of resets and bonus content, including the ending of Iron Banner and the launch of the Prestige Leviathan. While the harder version of the sequel’s raid experienced a release delay due to an exploit, one event’s issue that has been around for a few weeks still hasn’t been addressed. Players taking on the Prestige Nightfall Strike might still find the event impossible to complete, thanks to a game-breaking glitch plaguing Guardians.

The spawn pulse issue, which first appeared in the third week of Nightfalls, still has not been fixed. Players who took on the Prestige version of the event noticed the series of warping zones that were meant to appear on Nessus would not be available. However, an exploit was found where killing a Dreg to the left of the final area will trigger the arrival of the warps. The downside to the trick is it only occasionally works and can’t be tested until the end of the event, forcing unlucky fireteams to restart the process and hope for the glitch to work in their favor.

It’s strange the issue only appears in the Prestige version of the Strike, as the regular Nightfall run will cause no problems for players. On top of it all, Bungie has been transparent about fixing the well known issues in the Leviathan raid. Players have been able to cheese the final boss, Calus, using exploits that help avoid damage. While Bungie has addressed the exploit in saying they will remove it down the line, Nightfall’s issue is arguably more pressing, as it can keep fireteams from getting to complete the event.

Granted, the harder version of Leviathan is launching with the same glitch still present, but Bungie also revealed they would be tracking players to see who uses the exploit and who doesn’t. Again, that problem doesn’t keep players from finishing the quest, unlike the Nightfall glitch.

However, Bungie does have their hands full. The PC version of Destiny 2, which will launch on Blizzard’s Battle.net service, is arriving soon on October 24th. With a whole new platform and set of players to cater to, perhaps there will be more significant pressure on the developer to fix the issues that truly need attention.

Destiny 2 is available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a PC version arriving on October 24th.
