Gears of War 4‘s recently released content roadmap for October and November revealed when we’ll be getting that fancy Xbox One X enhancement update patch, and it’s arriving a little earlier than we expected.

Previously, the update was expected to arrive on November 7th, when the Xbox One X officially launches. However, according to a recent blog post from The Coalition senior community manager T.C. Octus, the Xbox One X enhancement update will arrive alongside the October map drop, which is scheduled for late October. The Coalition has yet to announced the release date for the two new maps.

Unfortunately, as we previously reported, October also marks the last month for Gears of War 4‘s major content updates, meaning the upcoming map drop will be the game’s last. That being said, The Coaltion will continue to support Gears 4 with weekly and seasonal events, new weapon skins, and more Gear Packs.

October marks the game’s first birthday, which will introduce a new Golden Gear character and will bring back the Golden Gun event. Halloween will also get some love, as Pumpkin Heads and Phantom Dodgeball will be added to playlists during this time.

In addition to the Xbox One X’s release, November will also bring back Thanksgibbing, while December will see the release of Gearsmas, complete with a reworked version of Snowball Fight and a “crazy” Horde variant. We’re hoping that means The Coalition is replacing all Swarm and DeeBees with Killer Santas.

Gears of War 4 is available now on Xbox One and PC.
