PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds dev apologizes for server issues

3.9
The PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds team at Bluehole Studio has issued an apology to players for the recent server issues that have plagued the game.

“First of all, we would like to sincerely apologize to everyone for the recent server issues which resulted in long waits and any inconveniences,” the developer wrote.

“Our development team has been continuously upgrading the service architecture to address the increasing concurrent player numbers and tackle any emerging issues. Despite our daily efforts, there were some unexpected issues during peak times and we were unable to resolve some of the issues as fast as we would have wanted to.”

According to the post, the team only anticipated a maximum of 1 million concurrent players so that is what the game’s servers are designed to support. However, the team is now aiming to improve server capacity in advance of player number spikes so they can handle a much larger number of concurrent players.

Bluehole also addressed issues that have affected servers in Asia. According to the developer, servers from another cloud service were used to help alleviate the pressure on the ones they currently had, but some of those overloaded, causing crashes.

“The entire development team is doing their best to make sure all PUBG players in the world can play PUBG smoothly whenever they want. Again, we would like to sincerely apologize to all the players who experienced any inconveniences due to server problems or connection errors. Please rest assured that we have doubled our efforts to improve the quality of the service. On a side note, we have been continuously working on optimization and doing our best to make gradual improvements,” the post concludes.

In other PUBG news, yesterday rumors surfaced claiming that Microsoft is talking with Bluehole to increase the exclusivity window of the game on Xbox One.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now on PC and will be coming to Xbox One later this year.
