After players reported losing the Leviathan keys before the normal weekly reset occurred, Bungie looked into the issue and found the trigger for the bug. For one, players that sign in with a different character that had not been used before earning the raid keys that week will lose their earned items. Second, creating a new character after earning raid keys for that week will also delete them. Bungie advises players to sign in with all created characters at the beginning of each week before acquiring any raid keys, or at least inspect their characters on the Destiny 2 companion mobile app.
Obviously, this is not a clean fix for the problem, but in the same post, Bungie confirmed it is working on a patch. “We are looking to address the issues where keys are removed erroneously with a future update,” said the developer. While this doesn’t clear up the accidental problems easily, it is good to have preventative options for the time being to help players make the right decision each week.
Destiny 2 is set for the 1.0.3.1 update to arrive on October 3rd, which will bring more bug fixes into the game. Apart from the lingering issues, Guardians can still earn reputation points through completing Leviathan and the many other events offered in the sequel for the current Faction Rally. While the Leviathan chests offer a great deal of loot, players should also invest in supporting their faction, as the winning team will get to purchase inexpensive Legendary weapons.
Destiny 2 is available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a PC release arriving October 24th.
