Gearbox Software recently announced that it will no longer be supporting Battleborn with new content following a Fall Update that will introduce a few new Borderlands-themed skins, taunts, and Finisher Boosts.

This news comes from a forum post by Battleborn creative director Randy Varnell, who stated that he will be playing a significant role in developing the upcoming game towards which Gearbox is shifting almost its entire focus.

While Battleborn servers will remain open for the “foreseeable future,” there are currently no plans for new characters or any other additional content.

Battleborn has been traversing a bumpy road ever since its release, with some attributing its difficulties in finding an audience to its proximal debut with Overwatch, seeing as both games feature a similar hero-based foundation. Most recently, Battleborn adopted a free-to-play model on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in hopes of either capturing some new players or, if you’re cynics like us, as a last-ditch effort to squeeze a few more dollars out of an already floundering title.
