The second Halo game of its kind, Halo Wars 2 continues a different approach to the shooter by swapping out the first-person view for a top-down perspective. Many Halo fans seemed to prefer the more traditional shooter version of the games instead of the strategic adaptation, but those who do enjoy the game aren’t too thrilled with the fact that another content-encompassing version of the game is already being released.
Halo Wars 2 was released earlier this year on Feb. 21, so the upcoming version of the game that’s releasing later this month comes just seven months later. Not to be confused with the latest reselling of the game, an “Ultimate Edition” of Halo Wars 2 was also sold at launch that turned out to be not so ultimate after all.
The special launch version of the game included the season pass for the game to guarantee content as it was created, but not everything was included in that package. An expansion released later that was titled Awakening the Nightmare wasn’t included in the season pass for the game, so those who picked up the pass at the beginning of the game’s life had to shell out another $20 to take part.
Response from players hasn’t been too kind to the news of Halo Wars 2: Complete Edition so far. A discussion about the retail listing included a range of emotions from anger to disappointment, both towards 343 for the new version and in themselves for picking up Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition in the beginning.
The newly-revealed version of Halo Wars 2 is hopefully more aptly named since it includes the Awakening the Nightmare Expansion, the base game, and the season pass. It’s currently available through several different retailers at $59.99 with a Sept. 26 release date.
