Super Mario Odyssey Download Size Revealed; Uses 22% of Switch Memory

3.4
Nintendo’s online Japanese store revealed the file size for the upcoming Switch Mario title, Super Mario Odyssey.

The title will take up approximately 5.7 gigabytes of storage on the Nintendo Switch as a digital purchase — for those who haven’t picked up a MicroSD card yet, 22% of the 25.9 GB available memory. This isn’t including any sort of potential day one patches.

It’s worth nothing that Nintendo’s been very good at making many of their first-party titles as small as can be through optimization. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild came in at around 13.4 GB, Splatoon 2 was 3.2 GB, Arms took up a measly 2.2 GB, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe came in at around 7 GB.

Of course you won’t really have to worry about file size if you still buy most of your Switch games physical.

According to Nintendo of America’s support site, you can upgrade your storage with any microSD, microSDHC, or microSDXC memory card. You’ll probably need to upgrade your Switch memory at some point so investing in one of the many cards isn’t such a bad idea, even bigger cards are relatively cheap.

In other Switch storage news, NBA 2K18 will reportedly take up to 107 percent of the Switch’s memory to install digitally, meaning you’ll definitely need an upgrade regardless of whether you are buying digitally or physically.

Super Mario Odyssey will be available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on October 27.

Ikr... They need to find a way to sort out the storage on the switch.

They shouldn't force people to use SD cards either.

-Silky Seen a few posts that past few days complaining about the storage and tbh it seems to be a big issues that they need to adress in production.

The system I got came with 32GB of internal and a 64GB SD; I don't have an issue with how much memory I have currently. I do agree that they should offer more variety of features when purchasing a console though.

Musket A lot of these games uses a lot of switches memory, hopefully they have external storages.

You can add additional storage to your switch, but the switch only comes with 32GB of storage initially.

Anyways, back to the actual post topic. I am looking forwarding to getting this game and am looking forward to more information as time progresses!
