Call of Duty: WWII’s Nazi Zombies has its own take on the Pack-A-Punch

Call of Duty: WWII‘s enigmatic Zombies mode will feature something similar to the series’ classic Pack-A-Punch machine, according to a recent developer interview.

Speaking with the PlayStation Blog, Zombies lead Jon Horsley discussed a variety of topics on WWII‘s co-op survival mode. While most of the answers were fluff, derived from information fans already knew, one question got Horsley to hint at something interesting. In regards to a question about a mysterious cage present in the mode’s reveal trailer, Horsley had this to say:

“That cage contains a special machine constructed by the Nazis, and it’s designed to make their weapons deadlier. But there is something else there which players will need to discover for themselves.”

When asked to elaborate, Horsley explained that there are multiple ways for players to upgrade their weaponry in Zombies, and this machine is one of them.

The Pack-A-Punch machine—first introduced to Treyach’s Zombies saga in Call of Duty: World at War—would allow players to pay a hefty amount of points to transform their weapons into superior versions. Apart from general damage increases, the machine could often give weapons unique abilities, such as World at War‘s flamethrower slowing down zombies. It doesn’t seem like the Pack-A-Punch machine will make a direct transition into Sledgehammer Games’ Zombies iteration, but it’s good to know our weapons can still be given a bit more punch.

Call of Duty: WWII launches November 3rd on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Next year’s Call of Duty may not take the same historic route as WWII, if we are correctly interpreting these recent job listings for Treyarch.

-Silky Tbh I had hoped that they'd stick with the OG design - love the current PAP.

They cannot really do that since it's treyarchs design. I am hoping that it'll make a huge impact on the damage dealt though. Especially having perks on the weapons such as TURNED.

Should still be good enough and similar enough anyway.

Was thinking the same thing, hopefully it cost a lot and makes them OP.

Always good to see something similar to the pack a punch and there being multiple ways you can upgrade a weapon! I'm hyped for zombies later this year (:
