Nintendo Switch Could See Shortages During Holiday Season

3.6
The Nintendo Switch has been doing extremely well since the console launched worldwide in March, selling 4.7 million units worldwide as of June 30th. It has a number of excellent games coming up this Holiday season but if you thought it was difficult to find one now, then the coming months could be tougher.

Speaking at Variety event recently, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime was unable to say whether there would be enough consoles available during the Holiday season. However, the company will hit 10 million units shipped by this fiscal year with Fils-Aime noting that the demand was “certainly” there.

Currently, the goal is whether there will be enough units. “Are we going to have enough for the holiday? That’s what we are focused on.”

Super Mario Odyssey will be coming in October and is one of the biggest exclusives for the hybrid console this year. It will be followed by Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in Holiday 2017, not to mention current games like Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Pokken Tournament DX, ARMS and so on.

Katsumi This will definitely damage Nintendo. They need to work on their distribution.

I heard they had too many anyway? Meh seems like speculation to me.

Mickers Thought they had been sold out for time now.

They did manage to bring them back into stock but i'm pretty sure it didn't last long lol.. I'm sure it will be pretty easy atm to get one but i can see the demand increasing massively over this holiday.

I don't see how this will damage Nintendo at all...
If anything helps them as it shows the high demand.

The switch is selling great now I wouldn't be surprised if they run out of stock a lot during the holidays.

If there estimating this they should push out more units.

It all depends on how the sales go

I don't think the shortages will be that bad purely because of the One X and the demand being so high - some people will want this more.
