Amazon Sends Worrying Email About SNES Classic Pre-Orders

3.8
The Super NES Classic Edition pre-order drama has been almost nonstop since Nintendo announced the thing. Shortly after its reveal, our neighbors in the UK were able to pre-order the system online no problem. They knew what to expect, and most everyone who wanted one was able plan accordingly and order one.

In the US, pre-orders went live at an obscene time of night on Amazon, and from a strange, unsolicited link that didn't look very official. Everyone who ordered from that link was worried that their pre-order might be canceled, and today Amazon sent out emails containing some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that your SNES Classic pre-order was indeed legitimate, and Amazon actually has enough for you. You're safe. You're getting one. The thing is, you're going to have to wait a little while before you actually receive it, and you're going to miss out on some of that launch day hype. This is what the official email from Amazon stated (via Wario64):

"We recently learned that we may miss your delivery promise and apologize for the inconvenience. You will still receive your order of Super NES Classic. We are working hard to ensure you get this item as soon as it is in stock. You can track the status of, or make any changes to, your order under Your Orders on Amazon.com."

How much later you'll be receiving your console may vary, but a few Twitter users chimed in on the thread to say that their Amazon reps told them to expect an arrival on (or around) October 11. That's not too bad. I myself was able to secure a pre-order from Walmart, and I won't actually be able to pick mine up in-store until October 4. It sounds like every retailer is struggling to meet demand, so try to be patient, y'all.

Waiting to get myself one of these - can't wait.

Made a mess of this tbh, Companies should always have enough for those who pre-order, that's the hole point. Hopefully they get their act together

This is very worrying indeed especially for a customer point of view.

This sucks and makes me kind of worried about the next time they release something like this, like the rumored n64 classic

Like the article said, seems a lot of retailers are struggling.
