Play XCOM 2 for free this weekend

PC owners can play XCOM 2 for free on Steam this weekend.

The free weekend runs from now until 1 p.m. PT on Sunday, August 27th. All progress made during the free trial can be carried over to the full game, which is discounted by 60 percent until August 31st.

This free weekend comes just ahead of the release of XCOM 2‘s next expansion, War of the Chosen. The expansion was officially announced during E3 and includes three new factions—the Reapers, Skirmishers and Templars—a new enemy called The Chosen, new environments, new missions, and more.

As well as these new additions, War of the Chosen also adds the ability for soldiers to develop bonds with compatible teammates to unlock new abilities and perks, introduces advanced campaign options, and adds a new challenge mode.

XCOM 2: War of the Chosen launches August 29th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Free game's are always good to open door's into other genre's or even just to benchmark. XCOM used to be a favorite of mine but not so much anymore, one of the first game's I ever played on PC
