SNES Classic Edition adds an amazing new feature to its save system

4.3
A neat new feature integrated into the SNES Classic‘s save system will spare players from the agony of game overs.

Expanding on the NES Classic’s save system, which let players stop playing a game and then pick it up again later from the same spot, the SNES Classic will allow players to rewind a certain amount of time each time they save. That means that if you die during a boss fight in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past or burn through all your lives in Super Mario World, you can rewind to the spot where you messed up and try again.

The amount of time that players can rewind the save depends on the game they’re playing. RPGs like Super Mario RPG and Secret of Mana can be rewound a few minutes, while Super Mario World and other action games can only be rewound several seconds (40 seconds, in the case of Super Mario World).

In addition to allowing you to replay segments you may have botched, the rewind feature also serves another purpose: its idle time screensaver will feature recorded sections of your actual gameplay.

The SNES Classic will go on sale September 29th, though pre-orders have already started to appear online. Nintendo has repeatedly stated that there will be more systems available for consumers hoping to get their hands on the glorified emulator, given the NES Classic Edition’s propensity to sell out. Unfortunately, reports are coming in stating that pre-orders that went up while we were sleeping have already sold out on Amazon and Best Buy, and now other major retailers appear to have sold out their pre-order stock during daylight hours in less than a minute. So, you know, that’s not a good sign.

Nothing worse than losing all lives on Mario.., This is actually a good feature to add being able to play back game time to before you actually messed up. I like it also wanting to pick up a NES, anyone got one lately ?

Sounds like it could save a lot of time when you die!

Not a bad idea would be very helpful on certain games. Might have to pick one of these up.
