Mark Lamia talks about Treyarch and Call of duty

With Infinity Ward's studio heads on the outs with Activision, it was up to Treyarch to take over the Call of Duty series, and according to fan reception, it did exactly that. "The response that I've gotten," Treyarch head Mark Lamia tells Joystiq, "is that people are happy with the game." But he says during VGA's red carpet event that it was never about competition among Activision's studios. "We've just got to stay focused on what we want, what we're making and our own creative, and that's really the best way to do your best work."

Now that it's become the Call of Duty heir apparent, what's next for Treyarch? "First thing we're doing," says Lamia, " is we're still working on Black Ops." Lamia promises Treyarch is listening to the community and will be responsive in tuning the game and providing new content. "So everyone who bought and is investing their time in Black Ops, they can expect that that's just how we work." Lamia says Treyarch is in fact "a Call of Duty studio as far as anyone is concerned."

World at War's Zombies mode had a successful life on the iPhone, and we asked if Treyarch was considering trying to replicate that success with Black Ops. Lamia says he trusts developers Ideaworks to do a good job on a sequel if that's what they choose to do, but "it's not a question of can we do it or is it good to do it, it's really about focus. Right now we are just focused on the PC and console skus that were just launched. There's millions of people playing every day, and we're focused on supporting that."

I agree with lamia, this is a game that everybody likes, and so far there are not too many problems with the game. seems like they are patching things rather quickly.

infinity ward makes way better games. i personally think black ops was a let down. my main problem with the game is the lag between when you fire your bullets into someone -to- when that person actually dies and falls to the ground and the points come up for the kill.

No they don't. It would destroy their online community and piss so many people off that people would get rid of the game, then tell their friends how **** of a game it was then their sales would go down. :)

I Agree that mw2 was a much better game but at least 3arc iz trying to fix the,problems. The thing i like about 3ARC is ZOMBIES. But why Did the have to patch q/scoping,But i guse they are making q/scopin better lil BY LiL..

They do patch many things and thats the thing i hate most about them.
AS IW would just be worried about getting paid.

I agree, but at least treyarch is trying to fix all the problems (even some we do not want them to fix >:( )unlike Infinity Ward where they put the game out there, made some dlc and fixed like 2 things then ran off.

I wouldn't say that so blindly. You must know about what Activision did to Infinity Ward, and from what they say, they weren't exactly given the time to help Modern Warfare 2 as Activision pushes them to make their next CoD title, presumably Modern Warfare 3. I just don't like to see IW get so much hate, when it really isn't their fault.

I know what happened between Infinity Ward and Activision, but instead of them being more worried about making more DLC and more money they should have been more worried about patching the game and making the experince more enjoyable. Other than that I find that Infinity Ward makes much better games than Treyarch.
