Xbox Live Indie Games program is shutting down next month

This is a reminder that the Xbox 360 program Xbox Live Indie Games created to encourage developers on the platform is wrapping up next month (via Neowin). The program is scheduled to be decommissioned and all the games from it unlisted in the Xbox 360 store in September following up on a plan released two years ago.

Many popular titles that have come out through the Xbox 360 era such as Super Meat Boy, Limbo, and more have already converted over to the Xbox Backward Compatibility program. While the titles won’t be available in the store anymore, gamers can still play their purchases still downloaded on their devices.

The program will have ran for eleven years. Indie developers are being encouraged to join the [email protected] platform now instead, ushering in an improved way to create video games for Xbox One and Windows 10.

Indie games are a load of shit in my opinion, but I'm sure this will bother a few people, that being said I have enjoyed a few Indie games in my time.

ApocZ was the best indie game, sad to see others won't experience the earrape in gamechat.

Never been into these types of games but many will be upset by this.

A lot of negativity in these comments. Castleminer Z and Total Miner Forge were funnnnn indie games at the time.

Definitely an amazing program, played a lot of indie games on the xbox 360, happy for the memories it made.

Very sad to see happen as indie games were amazing back then. Knew it was bound to happen eventually.

Not like many people play Indie Games anyway so this wouldn't be a bad thing, I won't miss it.

Decy I Guess it is pretty old now. i'll never forget the good old indie games tho Like Fortress Craft.

Fortress Craft is a bad Minecraft but damn was it lit.
