Titanfall 2 Sales Didn’t Impress but the Series Will Continue

Respawn CEO Vince Zampella recently answered many questions about Titanfall 2‘s launch and the future of the first-person shooter series in an interview with GameSpot. While the series is getting a new mobile RTS entry in Titanfall: Assault, GameSpot asked about the state of the series on consoles. Thankfully, Zampella had some answers for eager fans.

On Titanfall 2‘s sales and its launch window:

The game was successful, it sold well, but it didn’t quite sell as well as it should have. Maybe because it was super crowded, the pricing was aggressive–it was a rough window to launch our game. But we’ve got a really great fanbase. There’s not really much negativity or acidity compared to other communities, so I’m very thankful for that. It’s important for us to keep the franchise going. “We’re doing more Titanfall,” which is the quote I’m supposed to say.

Here’s information about how Respawn plans to handle Titanfall 2 content as they ramp up for the release of Titanfall: Assault:

It’s a delicate balance, really. We don’t know where and when to stop supporting it. Frontier Defense was obviously something big for us to get out and to push for, and our numbers during the launch of FD were like five times the numbers since the initial launch, in terms of player count–and it’s now starting to stabilize a bit. There’s two or three times as many people playing Frontier Defense right now than all other multiplayer modes combined. That’s very encouraging for us; I love to see that. It keeps the fans happy and engaged in the universe, and it also brings in some new players as well.

Second game was better than the first so maybe the third will be even better? Gonna have to wait and see news on it though.

The first game was okay not really interesting but this one coming out I'm pumped for.

After the first one being a bust I figured this one wouldn't be much better.

It seems like everyone in these comments are hating on the second one despite not playing it? I never played the first one. Just because I didn't have an xbox one at the time and I think its an exclusive. But this second one was actually really good. From what I heard, the first one was focused on multiplayer but this one was focused on the campagin. I didn't play much multiplayer but the campaign was pretty good. Maybe one of my more favourite campaigns of any game.

First one was pretty lame didn't even bother getting the second one cause it looked even worse

Craig Sales didn't impress coz the game is extremely boring, just like the first one...

Or because Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 was released a week within each other......

I the first Titanfall was good but it was just over hyped and got boring pretty fast. Titanfall 2 is also good, the multiplayer feels like Titanfall which to me is awesome. The Singleplayer was pretty good too and can't wait to see where the story takes us in the 3rd game.

Never been a game i could get into, can see why it didn't do so well. Weird how they are continuing a series that didn't do so well.

I actually like the first one. The 'horde' type mode was fun. The second got quite boring after a bit.
