Leak suggests that Rockstar is rebooting a forgotten franchise

Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption are obviously not Rockstar’s only series, though it might be easy to forget that since we haven’t heard about many others since Grand Theft Auto Online started making the company a boatload of easy cash. Besides the odd rumor surrounding Bully 2 here and there, it’s easy to forget that Rockstar has another franchise that’s just waiting to be revisited.

Midnight Club is an arcade racing series whose last entry was released almost a decade ago, but according to a recent post on Reddit, Rockstar might have a new Midnight Club game in the works.

A screenshot reportedly taken from a Rockstar developer’s Xbox Live profile shows a start screen with the Midnight Club logo and an overlay of the Xbox One’s start button.



A second screenshot shows the model of a Nissan Skyline GTR.



The account linked to the images has a gamerscore of zero and has since been scrubbed of any and all information except for a profile picture showing Lara Croft, which can be seen in the images. It’s not like this would be difficult to fake, but we’re going to think optimistically and believe that a new Midnight Club is in the works.

What kind of game it would be is a totally different story. Considering the only games in the series with licensed cars are Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition and Midnight Club: Los Angeles, a remaster of the original Midnight Club is unlikely. What seems more likely, if these screens are legitimate, is that Rockstar is working on a complete reboot of the series.

Midnight Club was hand's down the car game of my childhood. This game was insane I loved playing it.
Honestly hoping to see them bring it back would bring back alot of memories and fun, but would they do a hole new game or just remaster ??? Would love to see more on this

Lol not a chance. It would be more like Need for Speed content wise, which was a let down. Forza has so many manufacturers linked up with them and actually has a base to work off of, where as these other racing developers typically start from scratch. It will take many more games in a series to "perfect" it.

I've played many racing games and Forza is hands down the best. Even Forza Motorsport 4 is still better than the newest Need For Speed. And a way better game than midnight club, and I LOVED Midnight Club LA
