Electronic Arts Will Remove A Game From EA Access This October

4.9
Electronic Arts has been keeping pretty busy with its EA Access service on Xbox One, adding a bevy of fresh new games to it, including Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, and, as of recently, Titanfall 2, which just dropped this week. But they can take away just as they give, as the service will soon be seeing the removal of a title. Fortunately, you’ve got enough of a heads up that you can do something about it before it leaves.

The company noted that it will be pulling one of the launch titles for the service, the soccer simulator FIFA 14, as of October.

The reason for this? The lack of server support. With FIFA 15, FIFA 16 and FIFA 17 doing well on the market – and FIFA 18 on the way this September – the company is just opening up new server space and shutting down the much, much older game, so it won’t be of any use outside of offline play.

The company noted that the game will be removed from the service as of October 18th, 2017, and those who download it will be able to keep it installed on their hard drive, so they can play it in single player. However, if you delete it off your hard drive for any reason – and you don’t buy the game beforehand – it’ll be gone for good, so make sure you’re aware of that.

It’s not the end of the world, as this is a common practice with EA and older sports games, and there’s plenty of soccer goodness to go around across other titles. But there are those fans that are a little nostalgic and don’t mind having it around, so considering this notice for you to download it so you can enjoy it to your heart’s content.

Don’t be surprised if you hear about other games following this practice, like NBA Live 14 and Madden NFL 25, which might be shut down in favor of the forthcoming NBA Live 18 and Madden NFL 18. You were warned.

FIFA 14 is available now for Xbox One, as well as PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Won't affect me, good to know though.

Dont think many will be affected by this - the servers are down anyway.

Not a game I play anyways or are interested in.

Nice to see this getting removed thanks to EA. Will be nice to see new content sometime soon

Totally see why theyve done this. Would rather have them spending money on the newer games than an old one which nobody plays anymore

Hi It's a common occurance for a videogame that old to have its online servers shut down. It attracts users to buy more recent games instead; I mean, who really enjoys playing FIFA 14?

guess its planned obsolescence

kamilcaPosted:

well the games old and server support is obviously an issue, dont see wh7y anyone would be upset they are getting rid of it tbh
