New Super Mario Bros. Wii goes quadruple platinum in Japan

4.6
New Super Mario Bros. Wii has set a new goal for Wii games to shoot for in Japan; the Nintendo game has surpassed the 4 million sold mark, and that in less than a year. It’s the first game to reach the milestone.

Enterbrain’s figures, as reported by game mag Famitsu (via), put the platformer’s sales at 4,001,276 copies as of last Sunday.

The game also has the honor being the fastest-selling Japanese Wii title ever; it sold over 3 million units in its first 7 weeks.

With the repetition of FPS games that have boring story lines it's good to know that the basics still work, especially for Nintendo.

It's nice to see that in times of halo reach, Black ops, and other titans of the vidya game industry that nintendo can still keep it's head up with it's own titles
