Nintendo Switch Shipped 4.7 Million Units by June 2017

4.2
Nintendo announced today its financial results for the first quarter of the current fiscal year, and like every quarter, they updated the total number of consoles shipped to retailers.

The Switch shipped 1.97 million units during the quarter (Between April 1st and June 30th), while 8.14 million software units found their way to retailers. On the 3DS front, shipments during the same period were 0.95 million units for hardware and 5.85 million units for software.

This means that the Nintendo Switch is sitting on 4.70 million units shipped by June 30th, 2017, and 13.60 million software units. The 3DS is at 67.08 million consoles shipped and 335.1 million games.

On top of sales, we also get an the prediction for the whole fiscal year, which remains the same compared to the one released in April. Nintendo still plans to have shipped a total of 12.74 million units by March 31st, 2018 (ten million units during the current fiscal year).

The outlook for 3DS sales has also been left untouched.

It’s worth keeping in mind that Nintendo Switch distribution has been hindered by severe supply constraints, meaning that the console would have probably console would have sold even more if given a stronger production and supply chain. This is likely to have been taken in account for full fiscal year projections as well.

Yet, in Japan you have to win a raffle just to buy a Switch. They really need to keep up with the demand like this or people will start to give up on the console.
