First Halo 6 feature confirmed, but the full reveal is still far off

4.3
The next chapter in the Master Chief saga was famously absent from E3 2017, and it looks like it will continue to remain a mystery—at least for the next few months.

In a recent blog post, Jeff Easterling—a writer for Halo developer 343 Industries—stated that Halo 6 would not be making an appearance at Gamescom 2017 in August or at PAX West in September.

Easterling confirmed that 343 Industries “won’t be talking about Halo’s next major title for quite some time.… Trust us, when we’re ready to begin pulling back that proverbial curtain, you’ll know. It won’t be soon.”

343 Industries did show us a “little something” of Halo at E3 2017 with the announcement of the Halo Wars 2 expansion Awakening the Nightmare, which introduces the Flood to the real-time strategy spin-off series. But the fact that even 343 Industries refers to its first full-fledged expansion for Halo Wars 2 as a “little something” should tell you that Easterling and his cohorts at 343 are aware that this isn’t exactly what fans came to see.

There is a silver lining to this story, however, as 343 Industries head Bonnie Ross recently confirmed that Halo 6, in addition to bringing back split-screen multiplayer, would get full LAN support.

This news, as well as the fact that Halo 6 will focus solely on Master Chief, suggests that, for better or worse, 343 Industries is taking fan feedback into serious consideration during the development of its next Halo first-person shooter.

Honestly, I liked Locke and wish he'd be back. I liked both teams of Spartans to be honest. I waited a long time for Chief to team up with other Spartans and to see his old team. Hope there is still something like that.
