Call of Duty: WWII reveals the five new multiplayer classes of Divisions

4.1
Call of Duty: WWII will replace the series’ trademark create-a-class loadout system with new Division classes, which fans can try out at next week’s E3.

The shooter’s Divisions system was discussed in a recent PlayStation Blog interview with Sledgehammer Games studio head Michael Condrey. The developer didn’t get into the feature’s specifics beyond that it includes five “World War II divisions”, each with unique training and skills. Shortly after this announcement, Activision posted its E3 games rundown to its official blog, in which the five different divisions were detailed:

Airborne: First to the fight, where you move fast and stay quiet
Mountain: Focusing on precise and deadly sharpshooting
Infantry: Be the tip of the spear
Armored: Bringing the heaviest firepower
Expeditionary Force: Packing heat with incendiary shells

The Divisions seem to be designed like conventional classes found in other shooters, not dissimilar to those in the Battlefield series. Previous Call of Duty games also featured classes, but the extent of the disparity between them was largely isolated to individual special moves. It remains to be seen how important the distinction between the roles will be, but considering each Division will support its own “unique weapons and abilities”, Call of Duty: WWII could potentially be much more team-oriented than previous installments.

The Activision rundown also details two other game features coming to the show; the large-scale War multiplayer mode, and the Headquarters social experience. War mode is described as a narrative-driven multiplayer experience in which two teams must engage each other in assault-and-defend-style missions- sounding very much like Battlefield 1‘s Operations mode- while Headquarters is described as an “off-the-frontlines experience” where players can “compete, earn rewards, show off their accomplishments, and connect with friends.” Divisions, War mode, and Headquarters will all be hands-on for E3 attendees next week.

Call of Duty: WWII is slated to launch November 3rd on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, an PC. Fans will learn more about the shooter’s upcoming beta—dropping first for PlayStation 4—during the show.

Don't particularly understand the divisions, considering the overlap somewhat. What's 'Expeditionary Force' got to do with Incendiary Weapons too? To go on an Expedition, you'd expect that to cover weapons the other 'divisions' cover, expeditions are for information gathering also, so why isn't that division for the snipers/recon?

Why would they drop create a class and have preset classes that we can't tweak ourselves? Bad move in my opinion.

Infantry all the way baby!

Will just feel good to finally be back to the original movement system that made many people love CoD.

Aw yeee here comes sledgehammer games to **** shit up even more. Let's **** go.
Didn't play AW. Barely played BO3 and i definitely didn't play IW. By the sounds of it, this is gonna be another flop for the Call Of Duty franchise like the few before. Looks like another year of Halo 3 and MW2 for this kid.

I don't understand how these 'Divisions' were made up because they don't make sense. Infantry can be Airborne and Mountain, etc. I am an infantryman in a mountain unit. Infantry is just a job title. So they should've done like, Airborne, Mountain, Air Assault, Armored, Ranger, etc.
