Gold PlayStation 4 confirmed, along with when you can buy one

The rumors have proven true: Sony is launching a golden PlayStation 4.

The metallic console arrives as part of a “Days of Play” sale, which Sony is billing as a “thank you ” event to fans. In addition to the special edition 1TB console, fans will see special deals on games and accessories—including a matching gold DualShock 4.

“The PlayStation Store will see something cheap every day,” said Jim Ryan, Sony’s head of global sales and marketing in Europe (via Glixel). “We’re intrigued to see how people respond to the event at a time that’s traditionally very quiet for games. We’re going to have some really good deals.”

The event will run for nine days, beginning on June 9th (just before E3) and running until June 17th. Sales will change up every day.

During the sale, the golden PlayStation 4 will cost $249—part of a larger temporary price drop across a number of PlayStation 4 models. Once the sale is up, the console will return to the PlayStation 4’s standard price of $299.

Not a fan of the look but at least it holds 1TB, this is key especially if you rather have a digital based game than hard copies.

Like Xbox said I now realize that me neither would want to spend that much on a console with E3 and scorpio around the corner, gonna have to save my pennies probably.

Wont be buying this. Definitely going for the Scorpio over a gold console. Cant wait for E3 for more info on PS and Xbox though.

I like the gold PS4 just don't know if I really want to waste that much on a console with E3 right around the corner and the Scorpio being revealed.

No way I'm going to have the necessary funds saved up in time. I suppose I'll just have to find someone selling on second-hand in the future. To be honest, it doesn't even look that intriguing because it looks more like a faded matte gold, would prefer a glossy look.
