According to a report Digitimes by way of Economic Daily News, the next iPhone will incorporate a fingerprint sensor directly under the glass of the front display. If this comes to fruition, it will be one of the most elegant solutions yet. The information was announced at a Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) symposium, along with other features that will arrive on the device. If unfamiliar, TSMC has been tasked over the past several years by Apple to create processors for many of its devices. If Apple is capable of getting this to market, it will succeed where some have previously failed.
Samsung was rumored to be developing something similar but failed to get it to production on its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Instead, the firm had to ship its handsets with a fingerprint reader on the rear, which most have voiced that it is awkwardly placed and not convenient to use. Naturally, we still have quite some time until Apple announces its devices, which have been rumored to be delayed.
