Destiny 2 won’t add dedicated servers, not even on PC

4.1
If you were unhappy with Destiny‘s use of peer-to-peer connections, you might want to sit down for this one: Destiny 2 will not be getting dedicated servers, on either its console or PC versions.

While peer-to-peer connections have experienced a lot of negative press recently in games like For Honor, you can feel a little bit at ease to know that Bungie promises that it is aware of connectivity issues that faced the first Destiny and that “there is new tech coming,” according to PC lead David Shaw, although it’s too early to know what that tech is.

This news follows the recent reveal that, while the game will have an uncapped frame rate on the PC, it will be locked at 30 FPS on consoles, even the PS4 Pro. But at least console gamers will be able to play the game on September 8th, whereas the PC gamers do not yet have a confirmed release date.

Skates My internets pretty good, I should be alright.

the good thing about non dedicated servers is when someone who doesn't have good internet gets host. so you will lag anyway.

And so the rabbit hole goes deeper... They choose to replicate their horrid failure of a pseudo mmo/single-player style, and then double down refusing to give us dedicated servers for playability and instead fall back on bygone p2p connections that by the day thanks to pirates ISPs are supporting less and less. Holy crap, D2 is turning into something that might just be worse than the first one...

30 FPS lock and no dedicated servers? I don't think I'll be getting this.

To be honest I don't think there a necessity. It would be better yeah, but its not needed. People need to stop bitching

I can see there being that much of an issue tbh. The game is still going to run like D1. People making a fuss out of nothing!

To be completely honest I dont think you're even going to notice any different while playing the game, PC, however, might be different, but I think the game will run smoothly on the Xbox one.

No one NEEDS dedicated servers. It's actually not that big of a deal. It's a good business practice to not waste money on things that don't give you a good return. They will not lose any players due to this alone.

There weren't dedicated servers in D1, and I very rarely had issues. There not being dedicated servers in D2 isn't an issue for me, though it is a little sad to hear. Will be a great game regardless of what kind of servers is uses.

This is what happens when you run of to activision, Bungie by now should take control if the game fails it doesn't fall on Activision it's all Bungied fault... Already I am disliking this game, 30FPS lock lol they need better engineers to balance the power needed.
