Halo Has New Head of FPS Production

4.4
Some major shakeups seem to be happening at Halo franchise developer 343 Industries. Earlier this week, the developer in charge of Halo Wars 2‘s development left the studio, and now it’s been announced that Halo 5: Guardians producer Chris Lee has been promoted to lead the development of the Halo FPS games.

Halo franchise development director Frank O’Connor made the announcement yesterday on Twitter, being sure to clarify that Lee isn’t replacing the recently departed Halo Wars 2 developer Dan Ayoub. As head of FPS production at 343 Industries, Lee is sure to have an even bigger impact on the direction of the Halo FPS games moving forward, which could have serious implications for the upcoming Halo 6.

Right now, very little is known about Halo 6 besides the fact that it is in development, and that it will have split-screen support. 343 has also teased that the next Halo game will have a much larger focus on Master Chief, but has stopped short of providing specifics in that regard, and what it will mean for the franchise’s overall story arc.

Unfortunately, we have no idea when fans can expect to have more concrete information on Halo 6. We know that Halo 6 will not be at E3, so it’s possible that the first substantial piece of news on it may be a year or more away. It seems as though Halo enthusiasts that are excited to see what happens after the events of Halo 5: Guardians will just have to be patient until 343 Industries is ready to show off the game to the public.

One factor that may be playing a role in why we aren’t seeing Halo 6 at this year’s E3 is the looming launch of Project Scorpio. Microsoft may have decided to shift gears in the middle of Halo 6‘s development to make it a Scorpio-focused title, and so that it could take full advantage of the system’s impressive power.

Of course, that’s just speculation at this time, and until Chris Lee and 343 are ready to show what they’ve done with Halo 6 so far, fans will just have to guess as to what the game will entail.

Halo 6 is currently in development for Xbox One.

The series should have stopped at Halo 3. 343 doesn't know shit and is just an embarrassment. Halo 5 is barely hanging on by a leg. I can't wait to see how bad they fck up Halo 6.
