The data for the report has been collected from over 2,000 Xbox One owners spread throughout the US. Some of the more interesting statistics have been summarized below:
58% Xbox One owners are male, whereas 42% are female.
51% gamers are 25-44 years old. On the other hand, only 28% are 13-24 years old.
The average age of Xbox One gamers is 33 years old.
45% of surveyed gamers live with their spouses, whereas 23% live at home with their parents.
42% have a household income of $50,000 - $99,999. 7% earn below $15,000.
53% gamers tend to socialize, spending more than 17 hours a week on multiplayer games, and having four times as many friends than the average user.
49% of all surveyed gamers focus on "exploring" games, and play an average of 15 titles per year.
31% are achievement hunters, having a gamer score two times more than other users.
Additionally, Microsoft also surveyed over 8,000 gamers to see what motivated them to play games. The answers ranged from "discovery/exploration" to "escape".
It is important to know that data has been obtained through surveying Xbox One gamers in the US only, and may not accurately depict the global situation. That said, it certainly highlights several interesting facts about Microsoft's gaming community and provides answers as to why the company focuses on certain features such as Clubs, Arena, and Xbox Play Anywhere.
