Modern Warfare Remastered standalone release date reportedly leaked

4.6
Given the enduring popularity of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and the widespread derision of last year’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, fans of the series were no doubt heartbroken by Activision’s decision to box off a full remaster of the former game inside expensive special editions of the latter. Now, though, a leak from a major retailer has given new hope that a standalone release of Modern Warfare Remastered is on the way, and soon.

According to a report from Charlie Intel (via Destructoid), online game rental service and retailer GameFly accidentally posted listings for standalone, disc-based versions of Modern Warfare Remastered. Though the pages have since been pulled from public view, screenshots appear to back up the claim.

According to the images, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is slated to become available as a separate purchase on PlayStation 4 June 20th, and on Xbox One July 20th. That matches the 30-day exclusivity arrangement Activision currently has with Sony for all DLC releases, so the staggered release may be evidence in favor of the report rather than against it.

As with all leaks, take this information with a grain of salt. Still, a standalone version of Modern Warfare Remastered has always seemed inevitable. Indeed, a slip of the tongue from developer Raven Software last year seemed to confirm as much. and now that Activision has shifted its focus to Call of Duty: WWII, it’s plausible the publisher is no longer worried about cutting into potential sales of Infinite Warfare.

PlayStation gets the game 1 month early. Ridiculous! I understand the whole DLC exclusive but doing it to a full game, its **** stupid.

Yes yes yes. Now I can hopefully get MWR now! But like I said on Jord's post, the page was taken down shortly after. :L

A step in the right direction in my opinion. Was holding off til stand alone release, not spending any money on Infinite Warfare crap :P

KuruptFM Are people even gonna bother with this though, when I heard Modern warfare remastered I thought I'd be going back in 2007 and relieving the good days of cod. Not having an M40A3 in my hand and then at the end of the game opening up an supply drop. If IW was the devs of MWR you know there would be no supply drops

Actually there would be because the devs have to listen to the publisher in which is Activision who want supply drops. I hate supply drops but to say 'If IW was the devs of MWR there would be no supply drops' is just downright wrong
