Call Of Duty: WWII Will Have Female Characters

4.1
Call of Duty: WWII certainly has a lot going for it, including a strong single player campaign, stacked-up multiplayer options, and the ability to fight alongside your cohorts in co-op style, taking on a horde of new Nazi Zombies. But that’s not all, as the co-founder of Sledgehammer Games (the developer behind WWII), Michael Condrey, has confirmed another addition – female characters.

Female characters have played a vital part in Call of Duty games over the past few years, starting with the addition of female specialists in Call of Duty: Black Ops III (along with a strong female character in the campaign, voiced by Katee Sackhoff of Battlestar Galactica fame), and continuing on through Infinite Warfare. Well, this year will be no exception, as we’ll see some female faces join the cast.

“Yes, for sure!” Condrey said when asked if female characters would be included in multiplayer. While certain names haven’t been confirmed just yet, it appears that the folks at Reddit did some digging and came up with a few answers.

Some of the pieces of early artwork for the game have confirmed a character named Rousseau, a female leader of the Resistance. Hints indicate that she could be a playable character, more than likely with the game’s Nazi Zombies co-op mode, though that isn’t confirmed just yet. A Steam listing seems to have confirmed her involvement as well, so it’ll be great having her on the team.

And that isn’t all. GamesRadar also had a chance to chat with Condrey about certain characters, and another German woman seems to have been confirmed as well. He noted that "we really wanted to capture that it was a global cause, right? The Allied force was a global force, the German force, the Axis force, was more than just the Nazis. It was Germans as well as other nations involved, and so it was important for us to not... this isn’t an American war, this isn’t a story of an American squad – this is a global cast and so you’ll see some really powerful performances on both sides of the war."

In addition, he also said that the characters revealed thus far do include “two sisters” involved with a German family, who could take part in the campaign or some other part of the game at some point.

As for Rousseau, Condrey noted that she has a particularly cool moment, “that moment where you join with the French Resistance is a really nice moment." So it sounds like she may be in the main story, too.

Seriously looking forward to this. WaW is my favourite game of all time, dont let me down on this one! Although women characters kind of doesnt make sense, not really historically accurate for multiplayer, but it would be a good touch on campaign.

Tele Didn't even know women fought in the war

Hardly any did. They were all at home in the factories and looking after the children (which, to be fair, was vital to the war effort) but next-to-none of them actually participated in front line combat, excluding members of the french resistance and German women towards the end of the war.

This is just PC culture gone mad; they're just looking for any excuse they can possibly think of to get angry and start complaining, demanding companies cater to their tastes otherwise they wont purchase their game. In the least offensive way possible; women didn't belong on the front lines in WW2. It makes absolutely no sense to include them in Multiplayer and is disrespectful to the men who laid their lives in ultimately saving them (women) from the same fate they had just succumbed to.

I'm all for including women and "minorities" where it makes sense, but stamping your feet and demanding that you be included in something that really shouldn't be designed around your opinions is where it crosses the line for me. If you weren't there when it actually f*cking happened, don't ask to be put in. That's incredibly disrespectful.

Oh you can most definitely bet they will ruin this game with supply drops as well. It's Activision this shouldn't be a surprised and should be expected by now.

Illustrated
ZTG There wasn't even (many) Female soldiers especially in the frontline. Apart from medics, women were mostly working in factories as production would've been low because the majority of men were at war.

But whatever I guess.

It doesn't say anything about women being front-line soldiers. This only mentions a female in the french resistance, and in some german family. I agree they shouldn't have any female characters on the US Army side, but it's completely plausible to have a female character from the resistance.

Lol at ZTG not reading the 5 paragraphs. The epitome of gaming culture right here are the one's who look at headlines and that's it.
