Xbox Exec Takes a Shot at the PS4 Pro, Says "We Don't Need Boost Mode"

4.3
A couple of days ago, the specs were revealed for the newest Xbox console, Project Scorpio. Each system will have a CPU featuring eight custom x86 cores, clocked at 2.3 GHz, a custom GPU with 40 customized compute units clocked at 1172MHz, an unprecedently high clock speed for a console, and 12GB of GDDR5 RAM. Players will also have 1TB, 2.5-inch hard drive to play around with, and a 4K UHD Blue-ray Drive. Needless to say, the console will be a beast! Xbox fans and Microsoft managers are feeling pretty good about themselves right now and some of that is spilling into social media.

Yesterday, Albert Penello (Sr. Director – Product Management and Planning at Microsoft) posted a tweet answering the question if Xbox Scorpio will have a “boost mode” similar to the PS4 Pro. The Xbox Exec responded by saying “Everything will run better. We don’t need boost mode. The whole console is boost mode”

Its true. His comment was in direct response to the question. I believe the PS4 Pro will be knocked out the park by the time the scropio come out.

Mitochondria that is a brave shot to even consider for microsoft to take at sony.

Not really, the Scorpio is demonstrably more powerful than the PS4 Pro. Penello is right in what he says.

more powerful or not, that won't affect marketing. That was brave to call them out like that regardless how they did it.

Not sure that you guys get the concept of "taking a shot" His comment was in direct response to a question. He simply stated we dont need a boost mode, He didn't say "Sorry i think you mistook us for Sony, our console doesn't need boost mode" or him actually mentioning sony what so ever.

No shots were fired or even close with this comment. People need to learn to read.

The xbox scorpio seems to be the next xbox. The ps4 pro is just that, a ps4 with more power. I think the scorpio will be more powerful until sony releases the ps5. Which will likely blow them both out of the water. Doesn't matter to me though I have a 1080 ti lol

Lmao that's not taking shots at the pro, he literally answered the question properly.

I'm an xbox player, but at the same time you gotta think, 6tflops is great performance, however a rx580 will accomplish this, and it will be 200$.

What they did with this console is incredible. All of the customized hardware they made for it to run in the best possible way is awesome.
