Among the myriad of details recently revealed about the upcoming Project Scorpio, it has come to light that the new Xbox system will not feature a port for the Kinect.

The Project Scorpio does not feature a dedicated port for the Kinect because the new system’s port arrangement is reportedly based on the Xbox One S instead of the Xbox One. Kinect users shouldn’t worry too much, however, because—just as with the Xbox One S—gamers need only a USB adapter to connect a Kinect.

There’s one major downside to this approach, however, is that Microsoft just discontinued a program offering free adapters to people who upgraded to an Xbox One S. Unless the company starts the promotion back up again after Project Scorpio’s launch, anyone who currently owns an original model Xbox One and Kinect who wants to upgrade to Scorpio and still use the peripheral will need to pay $40 for the privilege.

Details on Project Scorpio’s final system specs and backward compatibility improvements were broken down in the recent coverage, but Microsoft’s full reveal of the hardware is going down at this year’s E3 with a launch expected for holiday 2017.
