Project Scorpio is Meant For “That Premium Consumer” – Microsoft

4.8
Digital Foundry unveiled the specifications for Microsoft’s Project Scorpio and they’re quite interesting. One thing is for sure though – all that processing power won’t come for cheap.

Mike Ybarra, corporate vice president of Xbox and Windows gaming, stated that Project Scorpio was designed specifically for “that premium customer, the gamer that expects the absolute best versions of the games.”

This is following the site stating that the Scorpio will be more expensive than the PS4 Pro. In our opinion, odds are that it could be priced at $499 (if we’re being optimistic). The PlayStation 4 Pro currently retails for $399.

Thus far, Microsoft is making a good case for Scorpio to showcase the true power of Xbox One titles. For instance, games like Gears of War 4 which take advantage of a dynamic buffer, adjusting the resolution for optimal performance can now run at their maximum resolution and still deliver a strong frame rate. All that remains is to know how much that will cost.

Ethan Yeah... I cant even record on my xbox one without it crashing. I don't see them putting in any more effort in just perfecting their interface that is already pretty buggy on their last console.

Im sure they will make sure none of the issues you stated will happen. Scorpio will be a premium console and im sure everything will be top notch.

Although its meant for "Premium consumers" Im sure regular people will be purchasing the console.

Im sure it will retial $599 after all the recent specs coming out. People will still buy this even if it hit $699.

Dover5 I just don't see myself buying one. To get the best experience out of the console you need a 4K TV of reasonable size and thats gunna set you back even more.

A 4K TV is easily going to cost $400 plus whatever this new xbox is going to cost.

Just not for me lol

Black friday sales included like 42" 4k tv's for around $200-250. The smaller ones (with higher quality manufacturers which is what you want when gaming) were going for around that price too, the benefits aren't only in resolution either, they'll have much more capability with features for it in the future.

Let's not forget that 4k monitors are less then TV's in some cases.

I wouldn't really consider myself a "premium customer", not that stingy about graphics or frame rate but it will be nice to finally upgrade from my Xbox One.
