Destiny 2 Rumor: PC Version, Collector’s Edition, Story Details Leak

4.5
Just ahead of Bungie‘s release for Destiny 2‘s first full cinematic trailer scheduled for today, a huge leak of information regarding the forthcoming sequel to the action-RPG has surfaced online, detailing the box art for a possible PC version, some of the title’s Limited and Collector’s Editions’ contents, as well as some of the game’s story details. Considering the leak’s timing and the fact that the deluge of particulars come from a Spanish retail store instead of from the official mouth of Bungie, it’s important to take the following knowledge with a huge grain of salt.

To start, the original post on the Spanish site Universo Destiny–which has since been pulled offline–provided a synopsis of Destiny 2‘s story, which was then translated by a user on the game’s official subreddit. Of course, since it’s an unofficial translation of leaked materials, not only will there be grammatical errors, but also the details therein could be completely specious.

“From the creators of Destiny, a highly acclaimed game, the extremely anticipated sequel is coming up. A first person action shooter that places you in an epic adventure through the Solar System.

“The Last City on Earth has fallen before an overwhelming invasive force under Ghaul, the towering commander of the Red Legion. Guardians are running out of power, and the few survivors have left.

“You will venture in mysterious, uncharted worlds from the Solar System to discover devastating weapons and combat abilities. In order to defeat the Red Legion and face Ghaul, you will need to gather the surviving heroes from the City and fight back together to claim back home.”

Interestingly enough, a lot of the purported plot above for Destiny 2 syncs up with details divulged in the game’s “Last Call” teaser trailer earlier this week and from what was reported to be several pieces of unused concept art that surfaced online back in 2016. For instance, the artwork from last year depicted the Traveller and the Last City in flames, and these details were also shown in the teaser clip featuring Cayde-6.

Speaking of Cayde-6, in addition to the Destiny 2 story leak, the revelation that a Cayde-6 statue would be provided as an exclusive pre-order special to GAME in Spain was revealed as well. As seen in the image below, not only does it look like the Hunter Vanguard figure will be an incentive to pre-order, but also those who do could be privy to access to the game’s beta, as the Spanish text in the picture seems to translate to “Pre-order and get early access to the beta.”

In regards to the Limited and Collector’s Editions contents, it looks like Destiny 2‘s special versions are set to host a bevy of extra content. A full rundown of the Limited and Collector’s Editions’ materials have been compiled and ordered by NeoGAF user MeisterLeder, but again, it’s important to stress that all of these details could be totally fake.

Collector’s Edition
Destiny 2 game
Expansions I and II including quests, coop activities, multiplayer content and tons of armor and gear
Legendary sword DLC
Legendary emote DLC
Cabal empire emblem DLC
“Frontier” physical bag you can carry around with a 15″ tablet pocket
“Frontier” kit including USBcharger with solar panel
A paracord
A solar rug
Limited edition steelbook
Collector’s edition cabal themed premium box, including a notebook, a map, and collectibles such as postcards and “pawns from the Empire”

Limited Edition
Destiny 2 base game
Expansions I and II
The DLC noted in the Collector’s Edition
The steelbook
The premium box and all the stuff inside

When it comes to the possible PC version of Destiny 2, the only thing provided in the leak was the box art, which could very well be a fraud, as the image appears to have been taken as a screenshot from a computer monitor. Furthermore, even though it’s the same image seen in the poster leak from last week, if one looks closely enough, they can see photo-editing software running in the background, intimating the possibility of the picture having been created in Photoshop, or a similar program.

Destiny seemed a bit boring and repetitive upon release however, the devs released some brilliant DLC. Still a bit too grindy.

Mitochondria This should be worth it judging by the lineup of what we know so far. Only downside is console players, everyone knows by now of the sony exclusive DLC.
