Call Of Duty Fans Find Hints The Series Is returning To World War II

4.4
Brace yourself, because the once-ubiquitious World War II shooter may be about to make a comeback. According to information leaked last evening, Activision is prepping Call of Duty WWII, which will return the series to the setting it originally focused on before Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare changed everything.

Following the success of EA's World War I based Battlefield 1 and the relative disappointment of the sci-fi Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, a return to World War II would make sense, but there's reason to be a bit wary of this information.

The leak came courtesy of largely-unknown YouTube channel TheFamilyVideoGamers, who claim they got their information from an anonymous email. Why would a somebody leak gossip this juicy to a channel with fewer than 250 subscribers? It all smells a bit fishy, but stranger things have happened.

Well, Call of Duty fans on Reddit are doing everything they can to substantiate the new information, and their amateur sleuthing has uncovered a couple interesting tidbits. The leak states that Call of Duty WWII is being developed by Sledgehammer Games (the folks behind 2014's Call of Duty: Advance Warfare) and until recently the studio's co-founder Michael Condrey has this as his Twitter bio.

Hmmm, what could those pound signs be all about? There's four of them, which means they could be a stand-in for “WWII.” Or a lot of other four-letter words.

Meanwhile, other Redditors have pointed out the similarity between the leaked images, and the original World War II-set Call of Duty's promotional art. The definitely use a similar style and the same orangish-brownish palatte. Could Call of Duty WWII actually be a remake of the earlier games in the series?

Obviously, none of this is hard evidence, but Call of Duty WWII seems likely at this point. With E3 2017 inching closer, an official Activision announcement can't be far away!

Yeah, it might be good for them to try and return to WWII after ruining their franchise for so long.

Honestly with all of this if I find out it's going to be a spaceland game I'm actually done, will commit there and then I cannot deal with another Ghost +

I can't wait for the game but I know they'll bring in supply drops and special only weapons :(

Skates Activi$ion will still add supply drops and supply drop only weapons making the game p2w. Overall ruining the game. It's amazing how greedy they are, Activisions net worth is 18.9 billion and yet they still fck us in the ass for some change.

I would say I would buy the game however, if these supply drops are in them, I'm not buying the game.

TaigaAisaka I'm kind of skeptical with Sledgehammer handling a WW2 game. Their past games probably had the most complaints for a CoD game. MW3 looked really dull and colours were washed out when compared to MW2 colours. I personally loved the single player but a lot of people complained about it being lackluster when compared to CoD 4 and MW2. Multiplayer wasn't balanced at all with the guns, some perks and of course Robert (Trolling) Bowling "No more Last Stand!" >Adds in Final Stand where you can get back up, uses a primary and then Dead Man's Hand that had the range to blow up a city block. MW3 could be said it was both IW and Sledgehammer's fault for having a mixed game but Advanced Warfare was a complete mess to a lot of people, it was also one of the fastest CoD games and games in general I have ever seen die out on PC. That was purely from Sledgehammer if I recall. So I'm very skeptical with how a WW2 game will go with them.

I don't know what Treyarch is making for their game but I know some people assumed it would be another WW2 game or even a World at War remake/remastered; following the steps of Modern Warfare Remastered. Hopefully if a WW2 game is being made, it's either by Sledgehammer or Treyarch (would prefer Treyarch) because I feel the community would cave in on it's own ass if 2 WW2 games came out within 2 years and it would be back in the same circle of "we want something new" all over again which would continue the slew that CoD has been in for the past few years since introducing boots off the ground.

Sledgehammer has also made one of the most colorful CoD, CoD AW. But I think this game could be ready good even though they have multiple WW2 games. A WW2 game in 2017, the graphics would be good and fluent gameplay.

Hoping all of their hints are a troll and the "####" is for AWII, not because I want that trash but because of Activision's selfishness and lack of attention to its community. They focus on cheaper contracts and wouldn't spare a nickel to a dedicated fan. They removed their phone support line which I'm sure was because of the costs.
