Nintendo: Netflix Streaming Services Will Come to Switch ‘in Time’

4.9
Last week, the Nintendo Switch launched worldwide — but unlike its rivals the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, the system doesn’t support Netflix. That’s a disappointment for many users, especially given the system’s portable nature. However, now Reggie Fils-Aime has pledged that the streaming service will hit the platform in the future.

“We’re talking to a range of companies about other services, companies like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon — things that will come in time,” said Fils-Aime in a new interview published this week. While he was quick to state that these plans were in the works, he didn’t specify how long Switch owners can expect to wait to stream movies and TV from their system.

“In our view, these are not differentiators,” explained Fils-Aime. “What differentiates us is the way you play with the Nintendo Switch and what you can play. And that will continue to be our focus into the future as we continue driving this platform.”

In short, Nintendo is prioritizing the unique capabilities of the Switch above providing the same support for streaming services as its competition. This makes a lot of sense, as if the console can carve out its own niche in the market, the likes of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon are likely to want their streaming services to be compatible.

Not a big deal for me as my blu ray player is capable of Netflix, so is my Xbox and my Ps4.

I was looking forward to getting one of these but I'll probably wait for a couple of months due to the technical issues people are having with them. I just use 123movies or pirate bay normally so I wouldn't ever use netflix, unless there is an exclusive show/movie on there.

The switch doesn't look that worth it IMO.. But maybe the mobile netflix could help, then again most people do have a smartphone with a hopeful 5.5" screen
