Medal of Honor’s Taliban renamed to Opposing Force

4.6
The inclusion of Taliban in Medal of Honor‘s multiplayer component caused a bit of a stir. Maybe you heard. At the height of the controversy, the mega publisher was adamant on sticking to its guns; however, after receiving letters from “gamers, active military, and friends and family of servicemen and women currently deployed overseas,” there’s been a change.

“We have also received feedback from friends and families of fallen soldiers who have expressed concern over the inclusion of the Taliban in the multiplayer portion of our game. This is a very important voice to the Medal of Honor team,” executive producer Greg Goodrich writes on the game’s official blog.

“Because of this, and because the heartbeat of Medal of Honor has always resided in the reverence for American and Allied soldiers, we have decided to rename the opposing team in Medal of Honor multiplayer from Taliban to Opposing Force.”

He continues: “While this change should not directly affect gamers, as it does not fundamentally alter the gameplay, we are making this change for the men and women serving in the military and for the families of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice – this franchise will never willfully disrespect, intentionally or otherwise, your memory and service.”

that kinda makes sense. Who would want to get killed by the Taliban? That would ruin quite a lot of people. Opposing force is a stupid name though tbh

iwafflez I'm sorry but why is so much fuss being made about this, yes, the taliban are bad people and yes they are the enemy and it would be considered indecent to actually being trying to let taliban win, but if I do recall correctly, there has been dosens of games that have allowed multiplayer playing as the Nazi Wehrmacht soldiers, No pointing fingures *cough* Cod WAW *cough* and lets face it, the nazis were way worse people than the taliban are. But no-one even flinched Some of you may say "yeah but that was in the past" but what difference does it make, the Nazi's were horrible people in comparison to the Taliban.
Besides, it's just a bloody videogame.

I would just like to add that I wasn't saying this is a bad idea, I just don't see why it is getting so much grief when cod 1, 2, 3 & 5 got so little.
