Barely anything will carry over to Destiny 2

4.4
Bungie revealed today that to move forward with a full sequel to Destiny, the developer would be scrapping all of your loot and progress from the first game—including items purchased via microtransactions.

The news broke in a recent post from the Destiny Dev Team on Bungie.net.

“Sequels represent the start of a new adventure for every player, with new worlds to explore, new stories to tell, new powers to acquire, new loot to earn, and much more,” the post says. “This led us to a decision that would enable us to serve both the game and the player’s best interests: Destiny 1 power, possessions, and Eververse-related items and currency will not carry forward.”

So, if you spent hours grinding to get the best armor from Kings Fall or even—back in the day—the Vault of Glass, don’t expect those to be with you come Destiny 2. That being said, not everything will be wiped clean.

“We know that, just like us, you have grown fond of the Guardians you’ve created, so we do plan to preserve your character personalization,” the post reads. “We are going to recognize the dedication and passion you’ve shown for this world. Specifically, the class, race, gender, face, hair, and marking selections for all characters that have achieved Level 20 and completed the Black Garden story mission will carry forward.”

What seems the most confusing is that even emotes from the Eververse Trading Co. will not carry over to the new game. One would assume that these items, purchased with real-world currency, would classify as personalization items, as they in no way affect mechanics of the future game (unless emotes are done away with completely).

“[Your previously earned items] will, however, remain accessible to you in Destiny 1,” read the post, trying to put a silver lining on the whole do-over.

What’s disconcerting is that such a statement had to be said. Yet, with Bungie’s history of taking things away from those who do not move ahead (several game modes were removed from vanilla Destiny if gamers did not get the new expansions), we guess it had to.

Destiny 2 is rumored for a 2017 release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Then why are you posting here? Anyhow I am glad that they are kinda resetting everything plus they are hopefully bringing it to PC where the master race can take over..

Why would you want to kill the grind? It's a new game NEW meaning it's a complete different game, a fresh start. A reward would be nice though for playing the last Destiny like a shader or something in Destiny 2.

If it's a whole new game then I personally don't think that carrying stuff over would be a good idea. So I agree with this 100%

I mean id at least like to keep my cosmetic armor. (The dawning armor and some of my shaders)

If it's a completely new game and nothing like the original then stuff not carrying over is perfect, however if they produce some garbage which could literally just of been a DLC then it wouldn't make sense imo
