Activision planning to release Modern Warfare 2 Remastered

4.5
Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is a Call of Duty title everyone cannot wait for and with the latest pieces of information that have been surfacing, that day might not be far away. According to several gaming insiders from Twitter and Reddit, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered could be coming as either a stand-alone title or alongside Call of Duty 2017. The information isn't surprising either, as Modern Warfare 2 still draws hundreds of thousands of players every single week.

Modern Warfare 2 released at the point that the Call of Duty franchise was at its biggest, and the game vastly became one of the biggest selling Call of Duty titles. Although the game had some major issues because of legal troubles with Infinity Ward, the game is still considered to many as the best Call of Duty title of all time. Without a doubt this is something Activision would have picked up on, in fact, before Modern Warfare Remastered was even announced, a petition for Modern Warfare 2 Remastered gained over 220,000 signatures in the space of a week.

This in short means that there is a demand for the title to be remastered and with how the Call of Duty development cycle is, it'd probably be a wise move for Activision to give the green light. Even though Modern Warfare 2 isn't a Sledgehammer Games title, it'd set the Call of Duty franchise on a potential goldmine of opportunities, as the bullet points below shows.
Call of Duty 2017 + Modern Warfare 2 Remastered
Call of Duty 2018 + World At War Remastered
Call of Duty 2019 + Modern Warfare 3 Remastered + Modern Warfare Remastered Trilogy

As we can see, if Activision decides on a Modern Warfare 2 Remaster now, it'd set up a Modern Warfare Remastered Trilogy in 2019, which will undoubtedly create mass sales for the franchise. The reason as to why this particular set of remasters is a good idea, is because no matter how much we're all looking forward to three years of traditional Call of Duty titles, we'll all eventually get bored. This basically means that Activision will want to feed on remastered Call of Duty sales, which makes a remastered trilogy very a very real reality. Call of Duty has always suffered from fans complaining that the franchise releasing the same games year in and year out and when the franchise took a risk in 2014 with Advanced Warfare, things went from bad to worse. Although Black Ops 3 was hugely success, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare didn't live up to Activision's predicted sales. This has resulted in the franchise once again going back to traditional 'boots on the ground' titles, which will once again continue to yearly release later this year.

Decy GOD NO! you cant touch these games.

If they do it right and don't release mtx and stuff, it'l be fine.

They probably won't tho. MW2 remains my favorite cod, however.

Hopefully they'll fix all the issues making the game actually playable.

A new cod plus the remasterd for free. It ain't that much work to remaster. And NO **** supply drops

Oh my god no. Then they will add new weapons and other colorful body armor that just ruin the somewhat realistic feeling that MW2 had. MWR doesn't have the colored armor yet but I'm sure it will to keep people playing. But the new MWR weapons are OP. Hopefully that doesn't happen to MW2R

Dotted they could release it for backwards comp, but they'd make no money.
they remastered cod 4 and it's just not the f/ing same.
i don't have faith in cod anymore.

Thank you, some one understands. It's just amazes me that even after all the damn money they made from supply drops since drops were introduced they are still not happy and need to keep ruining old cods with it. We will definitely see supply drops in Mw2 if they choose to remaster it.

Can't wait too drop some nukes

I don't know whether to be excited about this or to be upset. Yeah, it's a cool thing that they're releasing remastered, but why do they have to be a part of the bundle packs? Why not just release the game outright, and give players the option to buy just the remastered version of the game, and not the whole thing with the new COD and the remastered.

birdmann I agree, people bitch that MWR was ruined with supply drops... I don't understand how. Because they added me Lee weapons and 3 guns? Oh boo hoo. It keeps the game from getting boring. Get over it.

Skates Oh my god, first they ruin Cod4 now they're gonna ruin Mw2. We all know Mw2 is just gonna turn in to supply drop cluster fck. We all know it, I knew it was gonna happen to Cod4 with microtransactions and supply drops and it will deffintely happen with Mw2 that's Activi$ion for you. What a joke.

Oh, God forbid a FOR PROFIT company makes money. You're a Hater, for lack of better words. No one is forcing you to buy anything. But hey, I don't even own the game what do I know. Oh yeah enough to not enable them by purchasing it.

Lmao from getting boring? You must of never played the original, the game was fine how it was and was never boring.

That was a dumb statement. Regardless of all of it's rehashing and whatnot, CoD as a series evolved throughout. You can't expect a several year old game to not quickly get boring after a bit with these new generations of players. CoD is not known as a game for enjoying scenery, it's a fast-paced first person shooter. Graphics alone won't get people hooked for longer. It might bring you through a nostalgic trip, but it will soon leave you going out to play other games.

Furthermore, how do micro transactions make this game unplayable? It's not p2w in any sense. I think it's freaking cool that there's extra camos and even new guns you can mess with. I hope they do it with MW2!

I haven't played CoD in years and gave IW a chance, and I found it quite enjoyable. You certainly don't need variant weapons to do well in the game. I also thoroughly enjoy MWR and feel no threat with the addition of features. Sorry to everyone who has been stuck on their high horses for so long that they can't feel the same as I.

It's not like **** Destiny guys, isn't that a major plus?

What's wrong with people wanting the REMASTER of a game to JUST BE A REMASTER? Adding all of these new camos and guns makes it feel different and we wanted the original game, not something new. They clearly still don't see that, or just want they money, not to make their original fans happy

MWR feels exactly like the original. I have all the new weapons and I still rather use the M16 over all of them.
You don't even encounter the weapons that often.

I agree with both of you. Yes its a remastered and should be left alone. But in the same sense all the new cods are shit and i found it quite nice being able to work for new camos and guns in MWR. I really think that MWR is the only thing holding onto the company. By next cod if they dont pull there heads out of there asses the company is done
