Activision planning to release Modern Warfare 2 Remastered

4.5
Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is a Call of Duty title everyone cannot wait for and with the latest pieces of information that have been surfacing, that day might not be far away. According to several gaming insiders from Twitter and Reddit, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered could be coming as either a stand-alone title or alongside Call of Duty 2017. The information isn't surprising either, as Modern Warfare 2 still draws hundreds of thousands of players every single week.

Modern Warfare 2 released at the point that the Call of Duty franchise was at its biggest, and the game vastly became one of the biggest selling Call of Duty titles. Although the game had some major issues because of legal troubles with Infinity Ward, the game is still considered to many as the best Call of Duty title of all time. Without a doubt this is something Activision would have picked up on, in fact, before Modern Warfare Remastered was even announced, a petition for Modern Warfare 2 Remastered gained over 220,000 signatures in the space of a week.

This in short means that there is a demand for the title to be remastered and with how the Call of Duty development cycle is, it'd probably be a wise move for Activision to give the green light. Even though Modern Warfare 2 isn't a Sledgehammer Games title, it'd set the Call of Duty franchise on a potential goldmine of opportunities, as the bullet points below shows.
Call of Duty 2017 + Modern Warfare 2 Remastered
Call of Duty 2018 + World At War Remastered
Call of Duty 2019 + Modern Warfare 3 Remastered + Modern Warfare Remastered Trilogy

As we can see, if Activision decides on a Modern Warfare 2 Remaster now, it'd set up a Modern Warfare Remastered Trilogy in 2019, which will undoubtedly create mass sales for the franchise. The reason as to why this particular set of remasters is a good idea, is because no matter how much we're all looking forward to three years of traditional Call of Duty titles, we'll all eventually get bored. This basically means that Activision will want to feed on remastered Call of Duty sales, which makes a remastered trilogy very a very real reality. Call of Duty has always suffered from fans complaining that the franchise releasing the same games year in and year out and when the franchise took a risk in 2014 with Advanced Warfare, things went from bad to worse. Although Black Ops 3 was hugely success, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare didn't live up to Activision's predicted sales. This has resulted in the franchise once again going back to traditional 'boots on the ground' titles, which will once again continue to yearly release later this year.

This should be epic but I hope they don't ruin it like Modern Warfare Remastered.

This looks awesome. I really hope no supply drops are added.

I just hope they dont add micro-transactions to the game... They said they wouldn't in MWR and they ended up doing it and it just doesn't make the game as fun as it was back in the day

Oh my god, first they ruin Cod4 now they're gonna ruin Mw2. We all know Mw2 is just gonna turn in to supply drop cluster fck. We all know it, I knew it was gonna happen to Cod4 with microtransactions and supply drops and it will deffintely happen with Mw2 that's Activi$ion for you. What a joke.

If MWR was sold separately I'd buy it. Can't wait to see MW2 remastered, though I hope they don't ruin it with microtransactions. We want it the way it used to be, upgraded graphics is a plus.
