Microsoft won't let you choose which Xbox One goes in the Alpha ring

4.6
Last week, Microsoft released the first Creators Update preview for the Xbox One and at the same time, finally opened up the Insider Program to system updates. Four separate tiers were created, the top three of which are invitation-only.

The most active Insiders get to be in the Preview Alpha ring, which is the one that got the Creators Update preview. When Microsoft selected the Insiders that were eligible, it chose which console would be the one on the Alpha ring, not selecting the one that's used most frequently. Naturally, Insiders that have multiple consoles would have preferred to be able to choose which one is in Alpha themselves.

That's now changing. Due to feedback, Microsoft has decided to allow Insiders that have been selected for the Preview Alpha to choose which consoles are enrolled in it.

Remember, while you can activate up to ten consoles, if Microsoft finds that you're inactive, it can remove you from the Alpha ring. Also, keep in mind that once moving to a new ring, it can take up to 72 hours to actually happen.

Yes you can show what its like. I have been a preview member and alpha tester since day one i have shown the features to people since day one. If you couldnt show anyone or if it was 'illegal' then there would be some sort of warning since you could enter the preview program by invite from anyone. As for the new guide there is quite a few bugs after the new update as expected but the fuide feels alot smoother and the transition from games to different apps, messages etc feels alot better and smoother in my opinion

LoyaIty Just to let you guys know. I have been a beta and alpha tester for microsoft within the past. The creators update is not bad at all but there is a lot of issues with it also. From what it seems there may be another 1-4 months before the actual update comes, which includes the creator ui. I cannot go into specific detail as of what it looks like and how it works as I will be terminated from being a tester xD

You don't get terminated for showing what it's like, why you lying

There's more to it than that :) First of all if I did show exactly what it looked like (myself working with these sorts of things and being a tester for 3 years now) I go against many different laws. These include: Data Protection Act, Copyright Act and can be viewed as Data Breaching. This would be highly illegal in my stance and would get me into a hell of a lot of trouble. This is also why unless I have valid consent from the company I cannot state what it looks like or how it works.

This is also why companies such as Rockstar (one of the most known) made a big investigation grow due to a big data breach (leakage of information to do with unreleased content). Now you may ask "How come do we get leaks then?". Those type of leaks are by the company themselves. As I said previously you may get consent towards stating one or more things about a certain topic (content/material wise) however you can only say the things you was given consent to saying.

If you don't know what an Alpha and (or) Beta tester is and the laws regarding these sorts of jobs then do more research. Or try applying to become an official Tester not just an alpha ring.

You have really over exaggerated this post, some people including myself have this update now. There is no rule saying I can't show and tell people about this. I am aware that QA testers and so on who get acres to things like this before the average Xbox insider have to follow rules and avoid leaks but this creators update is now out there for some users to test and show off

Yeah I don't recall agreeing to a NDA. It's possible it may say something in terms of use of the program but usually if it does have a NDA it would clearly state so before joining.

I knew answering all those preview program surveys with random answers would come in handy sometime lol
