Gears of War 4 now has permanent cross-platform play

Starting today, gamers can play Gears of War 4 cross-platform as part of a special playlist.

Announced on the Xbox News Blog, the Gears of War 4 Social Quickplay playlist will allows those on Xbox One to play alongside (or against) those on Windows 10. Thanks to research from a recent Test-Weekend, Microsoft found that the results no matter which system seemed fairly even across platforms—the mouse-and-keyboard advantage of PC gaming playing not as large of a role in Gears as it would a first-person shooter.

However, Microsoft wanted to be clear that Core and Competitive modes will remain separate to avoid any possibility of gaining an edge due to technologies not available on the other platform.

This is pretty exciting! Who would have thought that a chainsaw gun would be the olive branch between PC and console gaming? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Probably not sadly.. The other games dont hold the tech to cross platform play..


I don't think the games holding the tech is the main issue. I think it is more done at the OS level and XBOX APP on PC. And it uses that to talk to each other. Cross platform is in FH3 and im sure it will be in most first party release by microsoft since they are really pushing XBOX as a brand rather than a console.

I wish more games did this. It would be awesome. Just at least Xbox and PSN. I haven't played Gears yet. I will most likely buy it soon.
