Xbox Head Phil Spencer Comments on Scalebound’s Cancellation

4.6
Following the sad news of the cancellation of Platinum Games’ Scalebound, Xbox Division Head Phil Spencer commented on Twitter about the issue, explaining that it was a difficult decision, but Microsoft believes that the result, while disappointing, is better for Xbox gamers.

Spencer also mentioned that the 2017 lineup is still the company’s focus, expressing confidence in it.

Scalebound was announced back at E3 2014 as an Xbox One exclusive. Following a delay to 2017, a PC release was announced at E3 2016.

During the two years and a half since the announcement, Spencer himself spoke highly about the game and the progress it was making, also mentioning that Microsoft intended to give the development team all the time that was needed.

Unfortunately, something might have changed since then, and we’ll have to wait and see what kind of effects this will have on PlatinumGames and on the Xbox lineup for the year.

I'm actually shocked. I was not looking forward on this game nor know a ton about it. But i remember seeing this game advertised a ton a while back and was looking almost finished and polished. Sad news.
