Nintendo Switch Set To Launch March 17 For $300, Claims Rumor

4.5
Let’s start with the context, first- apparently, print publications with long lead times already have all the information and details on the Nintendo Switch’s launch, including its pricing, and exact launch date. Nintendo insider Laura Kate Dale has recently noted that the information may even be leaked ahead of next week’s January 12/13 event by one of these publications.

And that, apparently, is exactly what has happened. A Nintendo fan on Twitter is pointing out that Metro, a UK publication, has apparently already leaked the Switch’s release date and price- the system will be launching on March 17, and it will be just £245, which is an excellently low price for it. Pricing details for the rest of the world aren’t know, but it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume a price of $250-$300 in North America, and ¥25,000 to ¥30,000 in Japan, with launch dates being in the same region as the UK’s March 17 launch date.

Laura Kate Dale, on her part, is sticking to there being a £200 price for the Switch, which seems to indicate that a cheaper model may also be made available. If so, and regardless, it looks like Nintendo has the pricing for the Switch down this time, and that they will be avoiding the pricing errors they made with the 3DS and Wii U.

I'm looking more forward towards the Scorpio project but I might invest in one of these just to have one for years down the road.

I believe it is credible to a certain extent I have seen in a few other area's saying that it will be out in march. as for the price that sound correct for starting off on which in the future I'm sure it will lower to a decent $270

I still won't be purchasing the console.

Supervisor Nintendo is trying to keep up with Xbox n PS4 but they'll never stand a chance

You never know. What if they come out with something really amazing.

KyloCrux Not even worth it, for a few extra hundred you can get the new Xbox One Scorpio so what is the point?

Well as far as I know, the Scorpios price has not even been confirmed yet, and from the way that I'm reading your comment, you're saying the Scorpio is gonna be at least $500. A few means not many, but more than one, so as I am reading your comment, you're saying the price of the scorpio is gonna be at least 500 US Dollars. That isn't confirmed as of now, I don't see the Xbox One Scorpio being 500 dollars, if Microsoft truly wants sales, they need to stay competitive. So I'm gonna say $400, or maybe $450. Who knows? I could be wrong, you could be right. Who knows though until they finally confirm it?
Another thing, you are asking what is the point in buying a Nintendo Switch even if you can get an Xbox One Scorpio? Well Nintendo has some great exclusives for their systems, and they always have. The Switch is something that is more innovative than it's competitors consoles, such as PS4, PS4 Pro, and Xbox One. If the Switch is $300, then that is a great deal with what you get. You should at least wait until they confirm these things before you begin to hate on the system. I am interested to see what Nintendo has to bring with their new console. I would like to try it out, maybe even purchase it and buy some of Nintendo's great exclusives.

Disc nintendo wil lnever be a top console. idk why they try

You say Nintendo will never be a top console? Nintendo isn't a console, they're a company. But I believe you're referring to the Nintendo Switch, which is Nintendo's upcoming console. You say it won't be a top console? Well I bet you will never be top dog in any sort of English or Writing class. Also how do you know if it won't be a console that does and sales really well? I don't think you can possibly see into the future, so how could you possibly know?
Why do they try?
I wonder why...... BECAUSE THEY ARE NINTENDO! And Nintendo wants to be innovative and different from their competitors, they have some of the best exclusives of all time.

I don't understand why you're being a negative Nancy towards Nintendo. The Switch may come out and completely demolish the PS4 and Xbox One, in-terms of sales. You say they don't stand a chance?! Come on, let's keep it real. They're Nintendo. Do I even have to say anything else?

IrishMob Don't know why everyone's commenting just to bag on Nintendo..

Personally I have no hate towards them and wish them the best with their new console.

I feel the same way. I don't understand either.

People on here are so ignorant when it comes to Nintendo and their upcoming system. I think the system will be great, and do just fine. I've never been a Nintendo fan, but I am interested to see what they bring to the table to compete with Sony and Microsoft. I'm interested in purchasing the system, I am just awaiting some more information before I consider buying it or not.

I'll still get the Switch, just not on release day.
Hearing that we will be able to play gamecube games on it just makes me more stoked to play it.
Gamecube days were lit asf.
