Don't Tweet Major Nelson about Black Ops 2 Backwards Compatibility

4.6
It seems as though Xbox Live chief Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb is fed up with users repeatedly asking him on social media about whether or not Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be made available via backwards compatibility on the Xbox One.

The Treyarch-developed shooter has been the most-requested Xbox 360 game to receive backwards compatibility for a number of months now, with over 200,000 user votes.

After a series of recently released fakes purportedly showing the title running on Microsoft’s newer console were widely circulated on Twitter over the holiday period, Hryb has been inundated with users demanding to know when the game is scheduled to be updated with BC support.

The executive initially seemed exasperated in his response to the fan queries, requesting that users ‘stop asking’ about the release as he had no information to share:

Later, however, Hryb decided to respond to the question in a more creative and cunning way. After fans ignored his pleas to desist questioning him on Black Ops II, the exec began replying to all users who messaged him about the game with a link that seemingly led to an entry on his website discussing the issue.

However, as many soon found out, the page in question actually redirects users to the game’s Wikipedia page.

Hyrb has also begun linking users to a FAQ on his official website that explains co-ordinated fan tweets will have no bearing on whether a game is updated to include backwards compatibility.

This is so pathetic. Just proves the COD community is just so cancerous

GR33NV3N0M i just think its strange that, if fans are obviously asking a lot and its the most requested game. Would it not be a good idea for not only publicity BUT also to keep the players happy, if Treyarch and MS made this happen?

I mean at the end of the day these companies rely on us, the players to buy their games, isnt making one that people want Backwards compatible a good smart move ?

I think that being black ops 2 is still so popular, the problem lies with Treyarch not wanting it to be BC because they know people wouldn't play their new games. They showed that with cod 4 being you had to pay $20 extra in order to get that game.

Bonds Haha I never thought it would have worked because sadly it takes time and I'm sure they don't want to release BO2 with all of the mods that it has on it. He has finally had enough.

Have you seen the games they've released? World at War, Black Ops 1, It's definitely not because of mods! I'm sure it's because Activision is trying to milk every game for money before they let things become BC. So far it's been the older cods which in all honesty, no one played before they became BC. If BO2 doesn't become BC this year then I would safely assume that it'll be a couple more years. But no one really knows I guess.

Ethan- Why is BO2 asked for more than MW2? (insert thinking emote)

That's what I would like to know... Some people will probably disagree, but I would much rather have Modern Warfare 2 over any of the other Call of Duty games.

Because there are more newer gamers than older ones. I grew up playing BO1 as my first cod. I enjoyed MW3 and BO2. I still play BO2 to this day. I haven't touched MW3 in 3 years. I have MW2 but I'm just not a big fan of it. Everyone has their opinions, and I guess more people just prefer the newer cods (Not the space warfare sh*t though).

Dayum, really don't care to see it updated but I am sure it will happen. A very popular CoD for sure.

Yin I can understand the frustration. I mean, it isn't like this is the first time people are asking about it. I think it'd be more rational to be asking Treyarch or even the head of Xbox. I would be surprised if Major Nelson had any say in it.
