Black Ops 3 on PC will soon get unranked dedicated server files

4.6
The dream of running your own dedicated Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 server is not dead.

Cesar Stastny, the particularly active Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 developer at Treyarch, has been quiet for a few weeks following the release of the mod tools open beta back in September.

But PCDev, as he’s known on Twitter, has emerged once again to bring Call of Duty players on PC more good news. The developer confirmed in a tweet that he’ll be releasing the files necessary to run unranked dedicated servers to everyone.

This means anyone can host and manage their own private servers with whatever rules they want, without having to go through Activision’s official servers. Stastny also said that more assets for the game’s mod tools will be released soon.

So far, Black Ops 3 has been the only game (post-Modern Warfare 2) to allow for this kind of freedom. Yes, it’s very late in its life cycle, but having the option to run dedicated servers and mod the game is well beyond anything offered by other modern Call of Duty games.

Mickers Glad they are giving us more modding access on PC.

Yeah maybe the next gen consoles could have this

I wouldn't get my hopes up at all for that. Microsoft alone is really "paranoid" when it comes to mods. When Creative Mode came to Minecraft, Microsoft conducted a whole month or two of testing due to it's nature. When Minecraft wanted to unleash mods for console, Microsoft said they would review it and consider it, but that was back in 2013/2014 and I don't think I've heard word about it since. As for Playstation, I don't know where their stance is on modding, but they would still need to be contacted and approved. I know you can mod Minecraft and I'm sure a few other games on consoles with a USB without getting banned, however they still don't allow mods to just be downloaded freely. Where as Valve just lets devs add mods to their games. Be that single player, co-op multiplayer or just online in general.

Are you talking about minecraft on Xbox not having creative mode? Because creative mode was in the game well before official release.

I enjoy BO3 as a game it's not a bad game. It's the fact the eSports side of things. It's weak.

When can I download this on my Xbox is what I want to know. Haven't had mods in like 10 years. I'm pretty sure they just console ban you if you go online. Lame.
