PS4 Pro Is Targeted Towards ‘Knowledgeable’ Players – Sony

There is a bit of confusion regarding the PlayStation 4 Pro and what consumer type it’s targeted for. It’s most likely not targeted at the existing PS4 consumer base and it isn’t exactly a machine that can deliver native 4K gaming. In order to clear the confusion, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s President and Global CEO Andrew House clarified that the PS4 Pro is targeting a very specific consumer base.

“I think that the industry probably needs to take more time not just in explaining the benefits, but showing what those benefits are. One of the reasons we elected to pursue PS4 Pro is that 4K and HDR in particular are a natural for games – it’s very easy for most people to be able to see a demonstrable difference between those two technologies. That being said – you phrased the question around the “average user” – we did call it PlayStation 4 Pro … so I think it’s inherent in the name – I’m not being facetious, honestly! We are targeting this towards someone who is probably pretty knowledgeable and committed in the kind of entertainment they want,” he stated in an interview with Digital Spy.

The PlayStation 4 Pro launches on November 15 and will retail for $399 in North America.

Well I think what he was saying was he just wants the console for PlayStation gamers who can differentiate between not playing 4K and playing 4K and those players to have a real love for it and everything that was put into the console. That's what I got out of it anyways.

I don't mind the Pro version but there's nothing really special about it. I like when companies offer more options when purchasing a console. Just seems like they are trying to cover up the fact that it's not that much better.

Any 'knowledgeable' person would know that waiting for "Xbox Scorpio" or just building a PC would be a clear better option.

I feel like the Xbox is better than the PS4 Pro? Not going to buy the pro because it's pointless and a waste of money in my opinion.
