Nintendo may bring back cartridges for new NX console

4.7
A report from the Wall Street Journal out of Tokyo might confirm rumors that Nintendo will be bringing back the days of the old game cartridges for the new Nintendo NX console.

The old cartridges have previously been used in the NES, SNES, and Nintendo 64. Nintendo's portable devices have continued to use the cartridges, but are different from the older style ones used by the Game Boy and Game Boy Color.

The move to flash cartridges could put a stop to piracy and improve speed and durability of the storage.

If they were to bring them back they would need a lot of work doing on them, from what I've heard they didn't work that great. However it would be cool seeing them

This would be really weird. I'd think most people would rather just buy digitally either way.

Please do! Cartridges were so much easier to clean & store.

Didn't plan on getting a new console until the Scorpio drops so this don't really affect me.

Haven't played Nintendo for years now, sounds like a great idea moving from and upgrading the system.

Halo
Skates Now the real question is, is this a step backwards or forwards?

Exactly what I was thinking when I read the title. Going to have to wait and see how Nintendo tackles this.

Honestly in my opinion its a step forward. Moving away from the slow disc format is probably best. Chances are they are going to distribute games on encrypted flash memory now similar to what they are doing with the 3ds.
