Despite its tumultuous history, Microsoft remains interested in crafting a film stemming from the Halo universe.

“We’re still interested in making an excellent ‘Halo’ movie,” Frank O’Connor of Micr0soft’s Halo branch, 343 Industries, told Variety. ”We’ve created an awful lot of documentation and materials to support a feature film. We have a good idea of what kind of story we want to tell, but won’t move on it until there’s a great reason to do it. We’re in no particular hurry.”

O’Connor added that the film would not be “a verbatim retelling of the game,” and that Microsoft is currently “intently watching” the TV medium as a potential avenue to push Halo.
