Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare vehicle breakdown and weapon design

Infinity Ward’s vehicle and weapons leads, Dan Savage and Sean Byers, delved further into Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s vehicle and weapon designs during a recent Facebook Live event.

Dan Savage kicked things off with the SATO fleet’s Retribution, the central hub for the commander and her crew. The bridge is similar to Mass Effect’s Normandy, with a similar map of the solar system that you can access to choose your destination.

The Jackal is reserved for dog fights and dramatic space battles. Based on fighter jets like the F-22 and F-35, the theme of ‘Navy meets NASA’ was a particularly big part of the Jackal’s design as it needs to whizz around in the skies as well as reaching escape velocity to head into space.

The last of the SATO vehicles is the the Raven, for dropping off personnel, equipment, and ground combat vehicles.

The SDF have similar categories of vehicles to mirror SATOs, although they’re not as technologically advanced, so clearly there was a little overcompensating going on when they created the Olympus Mons – their answer to the Retribution.

A super carrier class that dwarfs the Retribution, the SDF are hedging their bets with this gargantuan ship.

There’s also a marked aesthetic difference, with the SATO fleet looking more sleek and refined than their SDF counterparts.

And now onto the weapons. Sean Byers assures us that, “the classic Call of Duty look that you know and expect is going to be in this videogame.”

Making the weapons feel real in a futuristic sci-fi setting was something that the team was focused on, from the materials to the design to how they feel. This extends to the backstory of the companies in the game that manufacture the weapons, which also dictates the visual style.

It’s worth giving the the video a watch to see the weapons in action both in space and on the ground.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is due for release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 4, 2016.

Kicka If it wasn't for selling cod4 remastered along with this game, this would be the worst selling cod in history

It probably would, If they wasn't including the Remaster I don't even think it would sell at all.

Hopefully they make the weapons less boring they seemed too dull and bulky in the trailer

I'm sorry to be ruining these guys' opinions on how they think most of us are reacting to the game. Most of us believe this game looks terrible.

Supervisor I'm not liking this whole futuristic setting at all. Like cod was dead after Black ops 2.

Yeah I do agree with you here, but I did like AW with the boost jump but after that eh.. CoD is getting boring now. #WeNeedBootsOnTheGround

BEL These idiots just don't get it. YOU ARE RUINING CALL OF DUTY. This isn't Space Ops 3, get it together. This whole futuristic crap is just awful.

I couldn't agree more. Call of Duty: Star Wars Edition pretty much lol

Eli Personally I'm just not feeling the whole space theme. I will be looking forward to definitely playing the cod 4 remaster.

I would too if I had the money to pre-order the edition that comes with that. I hope it's a publicity stunt and that they do release it standalone, but still unsure really

I like it. **** me for having an opinion that differs from the hive mind of the internet right guys? Seriously, Blops3 sold like hot cakes and did very well even with futuristic elements. I'm excited for this game and know many others that are too. Just be happy that there's two CoDs this year rather than one and you can pick the one that tickles your fancy.
