Apple releases the first public beta for macOS 10.12 Sierra

4.4
If you've been hungry to get a beta of Apple's macOS 10.12 Sierra on your Mac, today is the day. The company has released the first public beta of the OS.

The news comes two days after Apple released the second developer beta, which is pretty fast. Typically, for a major release like this, the company would wait for the third developer beta.

Like iOS 10 - which also offered its first public beta today - macOS Sierra contains a number of new features. Of course, the big new feature is Siri, which claims to do everything that it can do on iOS, with some additional commands that are specific to a desktop OS.

There are other improvements as well. Like on iOS 10, Photos will group your pictures by people and places. You'll also be able to unlock your Mac with your Apple Watch; however, you'll need to have two factor authentication turned on on your Apple account for that to work.

To sign up for the public beta, you can head over to the Apple Beta Software Program page. You should be able to install macOS 10.12 Sierra right now.

iOS 10 is nice. Pretty disappointed that the second beta didn't fix the random crashing but I am excited for some of the other features introduced. Looking forward to a see confirmed design from Apple.
